Default Tweeter Recommendation Please!

I need new tweeters that will work with my Pioneer PRS 720 midrange and crossover. I cooked one of the stock tweeters and want to replace them both. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Over at DIYMA there are some folks that talk about replacing the PRS tweets... I did a search and found a few links for you.

Looks like you post over there as well...

Hit up Fej of The Komoman... I can remember them recommending some good tweeters a while back. (I can't remember the details, though.)

Be very, very careful with impedence. If the tweeter is not the same "ohms" you can end up with problems. Even then, mixing and matching with a passive crossover is generally not a great idea.

I believe that the pioneer crossover puts the tweets at 3k, and is 8ohm.

If you connect 4ohm tweeters (like the seas neos) they will be 1.5k crossover point - making your tweeters sound extremely nasty up until they die (shortly thereafter.)

It might be the other way around (4ohm doubles crossover point) but I don't remember off the top of my head. Spkrboy would know for sure.

Also, if you pick tweeters that are MUCH MORE or MUCH LESS efficient than the pioneer tweeters, you could run into sound issues too.

In any case, if you are going active and not using the pioneer crossovers - completely disregard.

Thanks for the input guys. I am running passive xovers. Question: If I run a tweeter with it's own passive xover I should be fine, correct?

Thanks

P.S.
I'll check out the links you provided. Thank you!

Well.. you could do separate crossovers if you really wanted to... But I think you'd be better served by an active cross over.

Especially because you might have either a huge gap, or huge overlap.

I really think your only solution is either custom made xovers, or active.
