Default Power antena for C5

Where I live the FM reception sucks. The current antena is in the glass. Will it help to add a power antena and also is it hard to hook it up to use both.

Default Re: Power antena for C5 (GSCARR)

Just got done doing a full audio upgrade and I can tell you that there is a good amount of room to work with on the right rear corner of the car (at least on the convertible where the power antenna is). The power antenna is mounted to the interior tub and encased in a rubber weatherproof boot. You would need to create the hole and grommet for the external mast  and run the appropriate wiring as I expect the coupe does not have the power and turn on leads.

Hopefully you can find the antenna signal line (RF coax) for the back antenna
on your coupe and extend/use it. The coupe has glass antennas in both the front and rear glass to my understanding.

It likely cannot hurt to try to use both (especially if you just leave the front and pick up the rear for a mast mount) but glass antennas are notoriously less receptive than a mast so it should help.

Finally, you could change out for an MP3 HU and abandon radio all together  (I hate radio due to all the BS) or go with the new XM radio but you need to secure the satellite antenna somewhere also :D .

Good luck!
