Default replace the 10w1 in stealth box?

is it possible to replace the 10w1 in my JL stealthbox with a 10w3 i have from another install? would there be a significant improvement in sound or bass output if the 10w3 replaces the 10w1 in the stealthbox. it's powered by an zapco i- 2100

I would call JL...I've talked to their customer support several times in the last few months and they are very helpful. Number should be on their website.

I would think the only issue you might run into would be that the space in the box is tuned for the original driver, and the new driver might require significantly more/less cubic ft box size.

The Stealthbox originally came with a 10W3v2, the have recently changed it to the 10W1. I remember reading one guy's post here that said he got his dealer to swap it for a 10W3v2 at no cost because the advertising at the dealer specified the 10W3v2, so at the very least it does fit.

I don't know the drivers, so I can't advise as to if it will sound *better.* My guess is the 10W3v2 will handle more power and therefore produce more output, so if you feel the 10W1 isn't getting it done for you then you should be able to swap them. You likely could buy the W3 gray market or eBay and get nearly the same money for the 10W1 reselling on eBay in return.

once again thanks for the help, i have noticed since i went from a custom box with a 10w3 to the stealth box with the 10w1 that it just doesn't hit as hard as 10w3. i'll swap it out this weekend.

You're welcome, but don't be surprised if it still doesn't hit as hard. The enclosure is equally important in the equation, and if the custom box were larger volume (or smaller, but that's not likely!) it will sound very different even though it's the same sub.

I was able to have the dealer swap out the W1 for the W3 since the promo info said it was the W3. There is a big difference if you have the power to feed it.

the 10w1 is powered by a zapco 2100 which i believe is 400x1 .. it just doesnt seem to hit as much as the 10w 3 that i had in a custom box. i have 2 sets of focal k2p's in my DD with 2 jl 10w6.... in my vette have MB quart q series components in the doors which i dont think compares to the focals...

How does it fit and sound? If you need a new box, we are currently making our new C6 Coupe boxes to work with the new JL 10w3V3. Let me know if I can answer any questions, or get you the new box.

Recommended airspace, sealed, for the JL10w3v3 is 0.625 cu. ft., and our new C6 coupe box will have about 0.65 to 0.75 cu. ft.
We are designing some different shapes for the box to allow for the best use of the available space in the rear, and we will soon have the production models available.

The box will sell for $300, and will be able to fit a few more subs than our current C6 coupe box does now. Below is a pic of our current C6 box...
