Alternator whine
Just completed installing my system last weekend. Now at low volume I have a whine from the alternator. What kind of noise suppressor do I use. Should I just walk into a shop and ask or does someone here know?

While there may be other causes, everytime I've had this issue poor ground was to blame. Recheck all your grounds. If the head unit is grounded thru the vehicle harness, try a seperate ground in the dash.
99.9% of the time, a bad Ground is the reason. In the C4's a good ground point is under one of the seat mounting bolts.

You absolutely have to have metal to metal contact on your grounds, no paint in between.
I had whine on both the C5 and the C6, as soon as I cleaned up the paint around the ground bolt and put it back together the whine was gone.

OK I have a good idea for a ground. Because its a C3 ,Direct ground from the battery up the center of the console.To radio area. 8 gauge maybe. Can handle all the ground requirements and no guessing about bad contacts. Any component spliced directly would be 100%ground. ..or is it Bubba talking in my ear over my shoulder?
