Default Need help with subs

Hello everyone- im really interested in installing some subs in my c6. I have a few particular subs in mind in fact. Jl audio w7 10" 12" or 13.5". I have my heart set on the 13.5" but i dont want the bass to become unbearable in the cabin. Does anyone have any of these particular subs in their vette? If so i could really use some advice so i can make up my mind already.

the W7 series is specifically designed for High SPL at low frequencies. Mostly "Hit and Boom" For compititions, it's great, but for music I prefer the W6 series. it has slightly tighter bass and good reproduction from bottom end through 250 hz. I'm currently running the JL12w6v2 off a JL 500/1 and have plenty of umph when i need it. (up to 132dB in a sealed box)

The W7 will hurt you in a Corvette. That said, it's better to have a loud sub you can turn down, than a quiet sub you can't turn up.

Sorry, the 13.5 will be a bitch to fit in the Vette. If I remember right, it has about a 12" mounting depth The W7 series is for both SQ and SPL, it tries to get a medium between both. I've seen them in SQ vehicles but no super high SPL vehicles use them (that I've seen).
A 10W7 with a good 500 watts rms will give you plenty of bass. Someone here on the forum has two 8W7s in their C5.

thanks for the advice everyone- that said, i picked up my jl audio w7 13.5" today with a 2000 watt hifonics amp. i thought about it and i came up with the same conclusion as KALE- id rather have a loud sub i can always lower. the custom ported box is in the works and i should have everything done by tomorrow night. ill make sure to let everyone know what the outcome is.

If you have a remote bass boost/gain control ****, i found that they fit very well just to the left of the E brake handle. you can see mine mounted in the top left of the pic:

Oh, and I'd really like to see pics of this Subwoofer Gorilla.

Wow! Thats alot of Sub. I just checked out JL's site. That thing weighs 52lbs! Not counting the box and amp! the boxes dimensions are 16"X15.75X19.25! Congratulations, you turned your $50,000 sports car into a mobile Subwoofer platform. but its going to sound good.

porschekilla, have you mounted your sub in yet? I just read your post i'm interested in how it went because I have had my fairly brand new 12'w7 w/ a 1000.1 jl audio amp, that has been laying around for a couple of years & ive always thought it could not fit. Can you post pics of your set-up?
Thanks
