4ga power from battery to amp and 8 ga ground to rear seat bolt on floor.
Remote turn-on Dk green works correctly.
RCA split outter bare together to LT blue.
RCA L inner wire to Tan and R RCA inner wire Lt Grn.Wire taps used on radio harness.
I'm getting no bass and a thump when turned on and full excursion from the sub on powered off from HU.Good bit of hum if the amp gain is up but still no real bass response.
What am I missing here? I'll put up a pic to show the wiring behind the HU.
Okay, I switched them over to the other side with the right wire colors.I left the remote turn-on to the other side and now I have plenty of bass but all my highs are gone from the stock....wth?
There is more to this story, I didn't start this mess.A shop did. After I saw what was done I started tearing into it.I wouldn't let them try to fix it.They got it wrong enough for me to say screw it.I'll do it myself.
They ended up with a line-out,like I said not to do.Then no terminal on the ground post.I even gave them the wire chart to follow and he decided not to.This how I got on the wrong side all along today...once the "other" side was brought up by PV it clicked.Everything else was just simple stuff.Learning curve.
I'll have aword with the shop owner tommorow. He happens to be a friend of mine for years. Not sure what happened today.
the only way u would loose bass from stock speakers is if u somehow cut a wire
Apparently not,3 connections.two are + and one is the doubled up-.I had the doubled up - on one of the +.It was all mid-range.Odd but true.I saw it and switched it back and the highs where back.
Things we learn I guess.Even though i take the time to write down which wire to which both where white/blk wire tap leads and i got them backwards.
Well crap, we took the car out last night for the 1st time since the amp install and the driver front speaker whines. The sub box is not in yet so not sure if the bass will override the whine. It is pretty minimal but I can hear it at lower volumes. When the volume is all the way down it stops.

Make sure there is plenty of room between the power cable and the RCA's. If the power cable is near the RCA's you will get a whine. This may or may not be the problem, but it's a easy check. Is the amp just running the sub?
WaaHoo....sub box just got here.I'll go put the sub in and seal it up.It'll have to dry up 1st but at least I can tell if the whine is a problem or not.
I changed my mind and decided to run my dual 2-ohm CVR12 at 4ohm.2-ohm is overkill for the dual 4-ohm sub and the RF.Good forbid a 1-ohm set-up.That CVR wouldn't last at all.
The 4-ohm set-up was the way to go for me.The HU is not trying to catch up to the bass.
I get no feedback on the fronts or sub with the car off.Hmm..I still think that ground needs to go to the batt.
it has nothing to do with ur amp ground if you get whine up front even without the amp rca's hooked up, if your getting feedback in the speakers now that u spliced those rca's in there is an issue with ur splice or u are useing poor quality rcas or something like that. ive never one had an issue like this and ive done this well over 20 times in diff cars
