I've got an Alpine that stopped working in my C5 Z06. I tried to have the stereo people that installed it take a look, but they were busy today and I can't go back until tomorrow - hoping to get some help so I don't have to take the whole day off work to get them to fix it.
Checked all the fuses with a fuse tester, they were all good except my cig lighter which I replaced.
Everything I can see electronically works except the headunit. It won't turn on (and I never turned it off). I went to lunch, it worked fine (turned on as soon as I put the key in, etc), I left work an hour after I got back from lunch, it wouldn't turn on.
Obviously I changed nothing, and if the fuses are good to go....the stereo is about 9 months old, never had a single issue, and I searched on Google and didn't find a single similar problem with the deck.
I had a look at your unit's quick reference guide. Yours is one of the Alpine units with an inline fuse holder for the main power wire. This can only be accessed by removing the head unit. According to the guide, this should be a 10a fuse. Depending on where power was tapped from, you may be able yo make the OEM fuse a 10 amp and this one a 15 so that fues replacement is a little easier.
If all else fails when you have the unit pulled, test it manually (power, ground and remote lead wires)
get a voltmeter and check behind there for ignition and constant 12v

Good Luck
Maybe that is the problem. Unfortunately I can't take it apart tonight, so here's to hoping that is the problem tomorrow when he takes it apart. My thing is though, isn't the fuse before the harness plug? He tested the harness plug for ground and power and there were no problems. I would assume there would be problems if the fuse was out.
I guess I've been modding cars for so long I'm afraid I've done something that could have screwed it up (not the fuse, just in general). If I have to buy anything I guess I'll just get the flip out in-dash nav I wanted...but I'm mainly worried that I've jacked up the speakers/sub/amp as well (and by me, I just mean in general that they could be jacked up).
I had thought I heard a crack in the speakers when I pulled out of the stereo shop but when I called him back he said that wouldn't be possible if the radio isn't turning on.
I used a voltmeter to try to test the leads behind the removable faceplate and got nothing, but not sure if I would get anything anyhow. Also, my iPod isn't charging (I have the hi-speed connection). Odd that the deck is getting power (at least his quick test with the voltmeter and harness showed no problems) but the iPod isn't charging and the face isn't coming on. I'm guessing it went bad but he said he highly doubts it. I couldn't imagine what else it could be.
