Mini-Amp Installed In C6 Convertible
Here's a solution.
First, a tip of the hat to BOXOLOGY for pointing out this amp to me. Kudos!

Say hello to my little friend. He may be little but he's got a BIG mouth

It's the Arc Audio KS125.2 Mini, a 2 channel 70 watts per channel mighty mite. I replaced the Bose Nav system speakers with Focal 165VR components, and together they are loud and clear. Now I can listen to my music with the roof down, at cruising speed.
The amp is small. It's roughly 8 inches long, 4.75 inches wide, and 1.75 inches thick. Just a little bigger than a dollar bill.
It fits perfectly behind the waterfall, and that's a good spot for ventilation too. Here are a couple of pictures of mine installed

Here's a comparison to a dollar bill and an 08 key fob

Here's the installed amp with the waterfall back in place and the drivers seatback flipped forward. If you didn't know it was there you'd never see it.

And finally, here's a link to the KS125.2 web page for particulars. I researched all over the internet, looking for warnings from other owners, and I didn't find any. All reviews were very impressive.
It cost me $350 for the amp.

I'm doing something very similar using the 165VR Focal speakers, except I'm using the ARC 300.4 along with one of Nicks Boxology boxes and an ID sub.
I also give a big
I think the Bose Premium sound system is very indistinct, what I would describe as blurred or muddy. I just couldn't hear any sharp sounds like cymbals or snares, and it seemed that everything came from the center of the windshield like it was an old mono system. No separation. I have a Bose Premium system in my 03 Avalanche and it's really good, so this was a disappointment.
That said, what I think I need now is a subwoofer. The Focals don't give the solid bass that would give you a concert hall effect. I think I'm going to add JL Stealthboxes down the road, because they have the look of factory installed speakers as well as a good reputation, but I'm going to contact BOXOLOGY before I do. I didn't see anything on his website that looked like the JL Stealthboxes for a convertible but maybe he has something I don't know about.
Cheers
Yep, I unhooked the center speaker. I think it was you who gave me that suggestion, so I owe you a tip of the hat too!
You told me that just replacing the door speakers and adding an amp would probably give me the sound improvement I wanted, and you were right on about that, so thanks for the help. The rears are still in place, but I have the fader set to the front so I don't hear them.
For now that's about all I can afford to do, but after Christmas I'll be looking for advice on a sub stealthbox so you might be hearing from me again.
Cheers
