My car came with the factory NAV and BOSE system. I want to switch to a single CD and someone local took his out of his 07 coupe. Mine is like this one:
He has offered his single CD head and a BOSE amp (part # 1590466 and 15903398).
So can someone advise:
-is the swap compatible
-mine is BOSE so is his also assuming its got the BOSE AMP (trust I don't need this?)
-is the swamp something straight forward that I could do?
-does a dealer have to perform some sort of electronic Voodoo
ur navi antenna is a total pain to remove so just leave it in, most ppl sell em without navi antenna. im not sure if ur sat radio will work or not.
dealer will have to use the techII to flash the radio to ur car, no way around it. u install it and the radio will work and power up once in accessory mode then after that the dealer must flash it

thank-you for your reply. So I should be able to remove my NAV, leave the navi antenna and stuff his unit in. Then go to the dealer and do the techII flash. Correct? Is removal of the NAV unit straight forward?
Sat should work just fine as well, assuming that single CD is able to control sat radio. The sat modules are locked to VINs, not to radios.
Single CD PN#1590466 purchased and now time to get to work. Can you also confirm that HUD will work and steering controls? I guess I'll plug and play the unit in accessory mod and see if it works.

Sorry Frank, can't confirm anything for you. My experience is entirely in replacing factory units with aftermarket, not using other factory components. Should that stuff work, I think so, but can't say for sure.
Remember, it's not going to work at all until you have a dealer Tech II program it. It will power up but will display some sort of error, not sure what it would be on that unit.
As mentioned I need to see a GM dealer for the scan. I also heard some non-GM dealerships have these units. Talked to a few and they indicated they need a "code" of some type for the repalcement radio I've put into the car. Is this true? Or does the scanner just need to be plugged in and the radio unlocked (or is it locked to my car).
Also how long does it actually take to do (is there are specific part of the scan they go to so I can tell the tech if they are not fimilar with doing this procedure).....thanks for any input on this specific question....
Frank
ps- some dealers want a fortune for the service ($120)
Previous generations of the Vette did have a master code, can't remember if it was C4, C5 or maybe even both. The C6 does not. Any service station with a Tech II programmer can change the VIN lock to your car. Unfortunately a lot of them just don't know they can....

Any feel for what this amp is worth? I did'nt take it but friend asked to see if anyone interested? I checked GMCanada and they retail for a crazy $600 Pm if interested....good deal.......

Job done, everything went like clockwork. Went to someone to do the GM TECK2 flash (dealers are ripoffs......most want one 1 hour of labor OR ~$100). A non GM mechanic shop had one and charged only $30). Watched him do it for all of 4 minutes!. Everything works. Now the as NEW NAV is out and available..........
