Default C6 Audio system question..

Is there any difference in volume levels or sound quality between the nav head unit and the 6 disk one both with the bose system? I had heard that the nav equiped ones don't play as loud as the non nav. also is there any difference between the 07's, 08's, or 09's?

Yes, based on everything I've read here the NAV units produce significantly lower output to feed the amps than the non-NAV heads. Whether that gain difference is what people are perceiving as better or not I'm not sure about.

I don't know about the '09s yet, but my best guess is that the only difference in any of the stereos since '05 is adding the ability to be controlled by the steering wheel buttons from '07 on.

see that's what i had heard too... i would assume the same speakers/amps are used in both bose systems with the only difference being the head unit. I have a Trans am with a monsoon 500 watt system now and i was hoping the bose system in the vette would be just as loud. i like the look/style of the touchscreen nav head but if it's not going to play loud then i'm going to have to figure a way to add more power to it and at what cost..

I had an 08 coupe with the Bose 6 disks and it sounded fine. Even the younger guys thought it was good. When I bought my Z with NAV I was very disappointed in the sound from the Bose NAV head unit.

I'm really not much into car audio, so it really has to be bad for me to want to change it. The NAV unit is that bad. I added speakers, sub and amp. This may not be enough. I may end up changing the NAV unit.

IMO u are better off getting a non nav car and adding an aftermarket nav to it, this will sound better then the OEM nav cost the same and work better
