I have a 99 FRC with a pretty respectable stereo setup. Nothing crazy too crazy but enough to affect my lighting.
I'm thinking about purchasing one of those capacitors to put inline with the amps. Who makes a decent one at a decent price? Circuit city wanted $100 for theirs.
skip the capacitor and do the big3 first, will prly handle all ur issues
what amps u got
Cars parked and stored in a different state right now I'm not sure w/o looking at it what exactly the setup is. The guy I bought it from put it all together.
1) hot wire from battery to alternator
2) ground wire battery to alternator
3) ground wire battery to frame
The C5 faq will have better info on this..
I am no authority on this so do a little research, here is my advice
Use fairly large gauge wire if you do the BIG 3 - I would use the same gauge wire you use to power and ground your amplifiers in addition to the factory wiring that is in place as electricity will follow the path of least resistance. If you are pushing a lot of current then I would +1 the gauge of your ground wire in 2 and 3 below in addition to factory grounds in place.
1) same, should be fused for the gauge wire you use
2) ground from engine to chassis, in C5 a typical location would be a alternator bracket bolt, to chassis bolt in engine bay. There are some located near the hood struts close.
3)same
I would do the big 3 first as it would cost less than your proposed cost to add a capacitor.
