Poor XM reception
I changed over to a Pioneer head last year, along with an amp, speakers,etc. Of course the dealer never mentioned that he would not be using the in- mirror antenna.
The new antenna is outside the driver A pillar.
Reception is intermittent in some areas, at best.
I drove the Z across country two years ago with the OEM and could count on one hand the number of times we lost XM contact.
Any ideas?

How would moving it under hood make a difference?
PS: Volvo mechanic in the early 70's was my first "real" job.
