Default reverse-gear signal input

I have made all the connections from the F90-BT HU to my '01 C5 vert (manual), except the reverse-gear signal input. I have search the forum and have only found one option which was to connect to the reverse lights. Someone else mentioned a wire in the passenger footwell, however I could not figure it out. I would prefer to not connect to the reverse lights.... Can anyone help me out?

It is a lot easier to grab a connection off the tail light wiring then the reverse switch on the transmission.

I don't doubt that you are right, but I would still like to know where the wire is. My reverse camera does not need to connect to the reverse lights, so I would prefer to leave them alone....

Anyone???? HELP!!!!

look at your reverse light. Take your DMM and found the correct wire (will show 12v when car is in reverse, and 0v when in any other gear than R) write that color down. Then go to the bcm, and look for that wire color. When you find the same color wire, put the car in Reverse, and take out your meter again, and verify the wire

Well you could also pick a feed off the "R" light on the dash.

Thanks guys, I will have to give that a try. Looking for the "R" light in the dash would work for an automatic, however I have a manual. thanks.

the whole looking for the R light in an automatic wouldnt work there is no R light, its just a selector that moves when u move shifter there is no switch there that lights up the R

tap it at reverse lights is by far the easiest way u could have it done already

My bad.

My V has a "R" light, and I never even looked for one on my Z.

Thanks again to everyone who has responded. You guys have convinced me to tap into my reverse lights..... Now does anyone know where to do this? What is the best location to do this? I appologize in advance if this has been posted before, but I can not find detailed instructions. Thanks!!!

Just unscrew the two screws for the housing and the whole assembly comes out.

Very easy to tap or splice from there.
