Does anyone have experience with products from Autoboxx? Apparently, they make something that fits in the center storage area. From their website: "Vette 97 97 - up Corvette: This model fits in center rear storage compartment. Comes with a cover grille that replaces factory storage cover. Grill comes in Red, Grey, Black, or Tan. Can be built for 2 - 8" drivers or a single 10"driver. $199.99"
They sound like they make good stuff. Read the description of their process on their home page. It seems like it's much more affordable than the JL Audio product.
It might be worthwhile to see if we could get a group-buy discount, or discount for corvetteforum members, or something. How much interested would there be?
This box although is much cheaper than the jl it is also made of mdf and not fiberglass like the jl. It also does not come with a sub. It looks like the guy does a fine job from the pics he sent me but I want a fiberglass box.
I'm intersted, for the price of the box and the price of a JL 10W3= 350.00. not bad, beats the JL price of 599.00, let me know if we are dong something with this
I sent them a message on Sunday, but I haven't heard back from them yet. (Today is Wednesday.) I was giving them a few days in case they were off work for MLK day. If I ever hear anything, I'll post it here.
If you're interested drop me an email. I want to move up to the 12w7 so I'm going to sell this. It's 3 months old, complete with JL Audio 12w3 sub and sounds very, very good. Paid 599 - will sell for 399 plus shipping. But I must say, that 12w7 will knock your car right off the road!! (But I guess it should for $700!) jmgregware@netscape.net
Here's the reply that I received. It doesn't have any specifics in it.
Hello, Thanks for the mail. I have done this once before, I even registered
with your forum and watched everyday for discussions, I sent a reply to one
question about the enclosure. I was then sent a mail saying that I was not to
do any kind of advertising of my products on the forum. I then received
approx. 30 - 35 mails wanting a discounted price. I agreed to a lower price if
they would do a group purchase. The purchase did not happen, they all wanted
to do individual orders but for the discounted price, I went ahead and agreed,
but only ended up with a total of three orders. Don't get me wrong , I would
like to do some kind of deal, but this time I would prefer something alittle
more organized. The only problem we have seen with this enclosure, is that
some models have had a changer in the compartment, this enclosure takes up the
compartment completely. Other than that we have had no complaints. The only
other concern would be that if they have seen a JL staelthbox, this enclosure
is not a formed fitting enclosure, it is made of 100% mdf, no fiberglass or
plastic. I am attaching a couple of pics so you can see exactly what the
enclosure consists of. Thanks again. David Goodwin, owner AutoBoxx

Does he mean his enclosure is not form fitting or that the JL is not form fitting?
I would love to get the opinions of one of the three people that ordered it.
I agree, we need to see some pictures before we can make a desition, if someone outhere has any pictures of this box please post them for us, I guess what he's trying to say is that the MDF is not going to folow the contour of the car but it will fit flush, correct me if I'm wrong,
