I purchased the Kenwood DNX5120 and all the acessories except the backup camera. I haven't installed it yet but from reading the instructions I can't seem to get how I can get a usb input in the car when the singular usb on the back of the unit is used by the ipod cable? Is there an adapter available for the ipod plug-in that will allow usb so I can use a smartdrive?

Doesn't look like it. Appears for the 5120 it's an either/or thing. While USB works with hubs just fine on computers most consumer electronics like car stereos don't support setups like that. Looks like you'd have to swap the USB connector to whichever device you want to use at the moment.
use the included usb extension cable and route it somewhere to liek the glovebox so u can unplug ipod and plugin whatever u need, some talk of a usb hub but i have never tried
actually, you can use a USB hub on the kenwood's , as long as the total power consumption is less than 500mA.
Nice, I always assume the worst with consumer electronics and the tendency to insist on proprietary hardware in order to generate revenue. If it does support USB hubs then Penta's more than likely right, get a hub that you can have run on 12V DC and it should work.

The usb cable on the back of the unit wasn't long enough so I found a short usb extension and ran it to my center console so now I can use the ipod cable or smartdrive without diddling with a usb hub....
