Default Door speaker fit question

Will a 6x9 fit in the door of a C6? I just bought a C6 with the Bose stock setup. I have a pair of 6x9 components (MB Quart) and a pair of 5.25 Components (MB Quart) from my C5. I would like to use these in the C6. I read the faq's, but I did not see anyone using 6x9's. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

To the brand or to the fact that they're oval?

6x9's are for use in cars where there's no space for anything else and you're trying to increase surface area to get more bass. Oval is an inherently inferior shape for producing sound waves and if you want to use what you already have I'd use the 5.25" components for the front stage before even thinking about using the 6x9's.

They're not that bad. Off axis response is worse than a 6.5, of course... doubt most people would even notice. Midbass will definitely be much better than the 5.25s, which will have approximately zero to nearly nothing.

Currently the above mentioned speakers are in a C5. They sound awesome. I'm using a Kenwood Excelon and a Kenwood amp and have absolutely no complaints on sound quality or staging. Those 5.25's are pretty close to pointed at your ears and produce good base (much more than I would have ever expected from that size) and asounding high's. I'm not familiar with the term "off axis response" so I'm at a loss there. The 6x9's sound better than any 6.5's I've heard, but admittedly, my experience is limited. It all fits well enough to not inspire me to add a sub to the system (although I might consider it in the C6).

See guys, they sound good.

Off axis response... it means from some angles, the frequency response is stronger/weaker depending on where you are.

This is the reason why you see hard core stereo fanatics going to extreme lengths to get their speakers installed at the perfect angle... rather than just mounting them in stock locations.

Should fit fine. You will be pulling 3.5" paper cone twiddlers high in the doors and 10" flubbery thumper woofer thingie in the doors so with a proper speaker plate your 6x9s should fit in just fine where the BLOSE woofer was. Your 5.25" speakers should fit in perfectly in the factory locations in the rear, where you will find another set of cheapie 5.25" paper cones that belong in a Yugo not a Corvette, however you will have to make a tweeter mount somewhere if yours are components.
