Yet another ipod interface problem. HELP!

Yet another ipod interface problem. HELP!
I just bought an isimple pxdp kit with the pxhgm4 cable for my 2001 z.
i got the head unit out and hooked up the gm4 cable to the conector in the back and hooked it to the box in the kit. I turn on my radio and it wont let me slect the cd/aux button, and my ipod dosent show that its charging. i have check all the conection over and over and i even took out my multi meter and checked that the box was getting power and it is. i have the dip settings at 3 and 8 on. Can anyone help?

p.s. i have searched for 2 hours before posting this with no help.

somewhere in teh c5faq it talks about having issues getting the radio to recognize the aux2car and discusses some ways to try and get it to work i would try that
i have never had an issue with these units not working, could be a bad unit, since ur ipod isnt showing charging
