thinking about kicker ds 6.5 and kicker ds 5.25 for my 2008, a pioneer 4000 cd player and a kicker 10 in a custom box with an amp to run the sub. i can get this all installed for about a 1000. i listened to the kicker ks versions and they sound a lot better than the ds versions but my installer said the ks needs an amp to run them and the ds don't. any advice on what to get? thank you,,,,,also is a thousand dollars agood price for this installed?

I think you are going to need an amp for the other speakers as well. An Alpine is a good choice, 4 channel.You can get a basic one for about $200.

ok IMO pioneers are really going down hill in quality, there ipod controls leave alot to be desired and lots of them have preamp output problems, look into an alpine
also a headunit isnt really gonna do a good job at all powering speakers you really need to do a 4 channel amp or u prly wont be happy at all
I HIGHLY recommend running components up front. I would step up to the KS series and put an amp behind em. Hell do KS components up front and the sub powered by a 4 channel amp and then do the basic coaxials in the back powered by the radio or ditch the rears all together
ALSO make sure ur installer knows his way around a vette
