Help on C5 DD Nav Selection (Milwaukee Area Qs)
I am thinking about going double din in the C5 this year. Did my research and will likely purchase a bezel from one of the supporting vendors. I went looking for a in-dash system today and was very disappointed. None of the stores had more than two units to look at and some were not fully functional due to missing disc or hardware. Awfull displays all around.
I was somewhat excited to look at the new Pioneers (700/900) due to price and specs. When I got to the store I found that the volume/selection **** was cheap and the interface was somewhat lacking. The kicker was that it would not take the coordinate addresses we have in the Milwaukee suburbs (Nxxx Wxxxxx). After the street was selected, the house number box was grayed out. It could only get you to that road name. The SD card slot was interesting.
The Kenwood was the lowest end unit. It did not have the Nav box hooked up so I could not tell if it function. The Garmins usually only get within the 100 numbers (within a block), but I could not try this out. The volume control was better and I did like the USB input.
I looked at an Alpine, but it was not functioning properly. No Eclipses to be found.
I have no idea what is wrong with brick and mortar stores. The one advantage they have over net stores is the ability to test a unit. They don't even power them half the time and I get obviously bad information from the salesman.
Here's the wishlist:
- Nav
- Bluetooth
- iPod or USB connection
- Good interface
- Ability to take me to the destination in the MKE area (a standalone Magellan and my CTS-V does this fine).
I prefer a volume ****, but could like without if other wishlist stuff is taken care of.
Any help?

The intergrated Bluetooth works perfict with my IPhone booth up times are quick since the 2.0 Firmware update I am very pleased with both units functions and useabilty. Pioneers IPod controls are very nice and the sound quality with the 4.0v preamp out puts running thru my Alpine PDX amps is increadable.
This is just my experance with my units all in all I am very happy with them. We also build a really nice bezel for the AVIC units.
Hope this helps you out some the Kenwoods are nice also that would be my second choice.
The new pioneers have a long boot up time I must warn u of that

He also did my install of my current setup two years ago when we didnt know anything about this mod. We are planning an upgrade in next couple months.I can package a deal for you as well

Kenwood 5140 699.99
I have access to all audio as well including authorized Elemental Designs dealer.
I am only a couple hours away as well for speedy delivery
PM me if you have any questions
Dennis

I found today that the Garmins will take the coordinate system around here. I was hopeful someone with a 5140 or 6140 could try an address for me next time they are in the car and confirm that it would work OK:
N81 W15094 Appleton Ave
Menomonee Falls, WI 53051
Dennis,
I may be calling soon to see what you can do for a 6140. You will just need to promise not to spend any profits supporting the Bears.
