Default Polk SR questions

I have been trying to decide what components to go with on the new system and came across these. I haven't been in the loop for a while and so I am not up to date on what the best new stuff is. I am looking for exceptional sound quality and fairly loud out of my audio. I saw some reviews on the Polk SR series subs and component speakers that are great. Can anyone verify this personally, anyone using these or heard them??? Thanks

The Polk SR6500 components are some of the best 6.5" sets you can buy, and definitely THE BEST for the price. I use all high end DLS speakers in my SQ set-up, but I'd put a set of those Polks in any day. I wouldn't use their lower end stuff, but I know for a fact that the SR6500's are VERY nice sounding.

Just be aware of what kind of amps you are running, as they need clean sound. They are very accurate speakers, and will tell on your amp if it's not of good quality.

Thats what I have heard about the polk stuff....I am still also looking at Boston and Focal...I plan to run either Zapco or Arc for power supply...I just want to find components and subs that will all sound great together as a packge, and then I am sure either amp choice won't dissapoint

I would go with Focal before Bostons, but the SR6500's before both unless your going to spend 1200 for a real nice set of Focals..... Bang for the buck, the Sr6500's are hands down the winners. As far as the Zapco & Xtant amps go, those will do a fine job providing you clean power, and lots of it.

And remember, if your going to spend all that coin on nice equipment, don't scrimp on your signal cable & speaker wire, it really does make a difference.

With respect to your sub, you are only limited to the size of your enclosure. You can buy the most expensive speaker available, and it will sound like doo doo if it's in too small a box. Find out how much cubic feet your willing to spare, and buy a sub based on that. I like the Infinity Kappa Perfect series stuff in sealed enclosures. They don't need too much cubes, 1.5 for a 12" sealed, and they are very accurate speakers with kick. Image Dynamics makes a decent 10 and 12 for small enclosures as well. If you like a ton of "kick", and are not as concerned with "audiophile grade" sound quality, the LS7 square woofers from Kicker are great fun.... Like I said, there are better speakers out there, but how much space are you willing to give up to make them sound good is the question...

My first concern is sound quality...I do love loud and it will be loud, but only once I establish what will also give me the best sound quality..My budget for the entire system will be around $3000....

Spying Beast....You think the SR are better than 165vr or powers???

Also in my search I have talked to a couple of guys who have an dlove Morel...What experiences have you guys had??

Looks like you have some tough decisions, at least you are picking good equipment. When you get to this stage of the game the amp selection and head unit selection is almost as important as the speakers. As well as the music quality. Good luck, so far the reviews i see for the morel are pretty good, car audio gave em 8.5 out of 10.
