i know you guys dont like 6x9s, but i dont have an option on these, i cant physically fit components in my car so this is my only option for the midrange.
now i know with subs, boxes have a huge effect on them. does that hold true with 6x9s also? would there be a noticeable difference between a real box and the 3 1/2" piece of wood with a hole cut in the center that theyre currently in?

The enclosure always makes a difference but the reality of car speakers means you do what you gotta do - so do what is best for the physical installation.. As far as 6x9's go, you're using them for the correct reason, because that's all that can reasonably fit. It's when you stick 6x9 coaxials in a space that's perfectly suitable for components that we get all worked up!
thats what i figured. now, these are going in the storage bins behind my head, so ive got about enough room to build anything. is there any way, or just a general size, to figure out the internal volume of the box for 6x9s?
theyre polk mmc690s.
nevermind, i found it after digging through polks archives. .15-.2. ill go design a sealed box to fit these.
