I have the Kenwood DNX 5120 and can't seem to load any backround pictures although I've followed the manual's directions. They are in the 16X9 format and on a USB memory stick. I load one and then the memory button goes dim. Could they be to large? The directions say if they are in 16x9 that the radio will resize them. When I do get a picture to come up it has black stripes top and bottom. No picture will stay as backround anyway. Help! I can (and probably will) drive 2 hours back to Safe & Sound (Manassas, VA) where I had the radio installed but if the pictures are formated wrong that may not help.
ou can customize the DNX-5210 with your own wallpaper / image by entering the "User Interface" option in the Setup menu. All you need to do is put the image you would like to use on a USB flash drive and plug it into the 5210's USB port, the image must be JPEG and stored in a folder on the drive. The DNX-5210 will automatically adjust the width and height of the image depending on the aspect ratio. Sometimes you will get black bars on the two sides or on the top and bottom of the screen. If you crop / resize your image to be exactly 480 x 250 pixels, it will fit perfectly to the edges of the screen (even though the actual resolution is 480 x 234, if you load a graphic at the exact resolution, you will see bars at the top and bottom of the screen).
To display your background image only and none of the user interface buttons, select the audio source you wish to listen to. Then press the src button on the left hand side of the head unit. Now press and hold the select source soft button in the top left hand of the screen. Your user interface should disappear and all that will be displayed will be your background image. To get your user interface buttons back, simply tap the screen anywhere.
You also have to put the unit in "Standby" to load the image into memory. Standby can be found as the last option in the setup screen. I've only been able to load one image into memory, if anyone knows how to do more I'd sure like to know how???

It's supposed to take three. Mine would only take one then the memory buttonm would fade out. I never could get the one to be a backround, just a picture when in USB mode. I'm definately electronically challanged. Hell, I don't even own a ipod!

Hmmm, mine grays out after loading one image also? Once the image is loaded in memory you just choose it as your new background.....
I'm thinking they are too big for the radios memory. I've used Photobucket to prperly size them down to 480 x 250 pixels. Now if I could just figure out how to upload from photobucket to my flash drive memory stick....
