Some Advice and Opinions
I would like to keep it as stock looking as possible and not have to tear my car apart to do the install.
I have looked at the schematics for the Bose Head Unit and it appears that there are low level inputs for FR, FL, RR, RL, and sub already coming from the HU. I am thinking of pulling out the Bose amp and using an Alpine PDX 5 amp and putting it in the stock amp location. This way I can keep the factory speaker wiring for the most part. I know I will have to convert the oem plug to RCA. I can use a PAC adapter for this and do some jury rigging. I would like to NOT use a cleansweep or even the PAC AOEM-GM24.
I would be replacing the door speakers with a 6 1/2" or 8" and tweeter with a crossover, getting rid of the bose 10 powered Sub. I will be using the Nakidparts speaker mount.
For the rear speakers I would just replace the 5 1/2" with better speakers.
For the sub I was thinking a JL Stealthbox w/10". The PDX5 is rated at 300w on the 5th mono channel and has a lpf, so I thought this would be ok.
What do you think??
I also have some questions.
1. will my chimes still work
2. Will my bluetooth still work
3. can I use the remote power-on lead from the HU with the PDX
4. will the radio automatically mute when I get a phone call
I know this all sounds basic, but this is the first time I will have done this.
I am pretty mechanically inclined, but should I not try this myseld and have this done professionally? If so, any good installers in SE Florida?
