Alpine PDX 5 - Questions
I am installing an Alpine PDX-5 in place of my Bose AMP, but keeping the OEM Nav. I am also installing new speakers and a 10" Sub.
My questions are.
1. I know the Alpine can handle both 4ohm and 2 ohm speakers. Can I put a 2ohm sub on the 5th channel and have 4ohm speakers on channel 1-4. Or should all 5 channels have the same impedance.
2. I have four line level outputs from the HU. Do I need to add y-cables to plug into the sub input or does the amp automatically send a mono signal out to channel 5 without anything plugged into the sub input?

1. yes, the 5th channel is 300w at 2or4 ohm
2. the amp doesn't automatically sense the 5th channel, you will need to run a set of rca wires to the sub channel. If worst case senario, you run a y splitter on your rear rcas for the sub channel.
I thought that some company makes a LOC for use with 5 channels, but i can't remember who makes it
