Ok here is what I have it is in a 2000 FRC I have a kenwood KAC8402 amp a 10in sub Alpin componet speakers then I decided to put the back speakers back in they are also alpine my head unit is a JVC-KDAVX2. Now here is where Im stuck the amp is a 2/3/4 amp so where does the sub go? Here is the link to the amp http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Support/Ca...ers_Manuals/#_
The stereo has a sub out so would it be better if I just bought another mono amp just for the sub? or is there a way to make this work? Im thinking I need another small amp for the sub. Any help would be Great! Also a suggestion on a sub amp would be good also.

You're going to need a second mono amp for the sub if you are going to put the rear speakers back in.

I would run the fronts off the amp and the rears straight off the headunit. This should allow you to hook the sub up depending on what particular sub you have.

Rear speakers are just a fill in. The front stage is where the sound should originate from, if that makes any sense. Of course this is all a matter of opinion. Some folks like the rears as much as they do the front. Question is though, have you ever been to a concert where there were speakers behind your head? I had alpine components in the front doors ran off a PPI DCX 1000.4 and alpine coaxials in the rear ran directly off the Kenwood headunit and the sound was amazing. I was also pushing a Diamond Audio D310D4 sub. What I was getting at, is that he didn't have to go out and buy another amp, unless he just wanted to amplify the rears.

This has been a huge debate with me in the past. I understand what you're saying about the concert thing, but in truth we're not in a concert hall. I did professional soundstaging for concerts and the volume is loud enough that you can use the size of the venue to reflect sound off the back and side walls so you don't need rear speakers.
Cars aren't the same in any sense. You would have to make the comparison to something a lot smaller like a studio or (good) home theater. You will never walk into either of them and only see front speakers. Accurate sound staging and sound reproduction depend on rear fills. Music is mixed that way,so why limit yourself?
But to each his own.Personally I would buy another amp for the sub.
Like I said,to each his own. For the record,I have sat in one and no I didn't like. Leaves you feeling like it's missing something.....oh wait,it is. REAR SPEAKERS
Ok all hooked up now. I went a year with out them and now they are back in. I like it better with them in. I have alpine componets in the front with the tweeter in the door handle well and now alpine in the rear with a 10in kenwood sub in a stealth box. 2 kenwood amps running the whole thing. Sounds GREAT Im glad I did it now Your right to each his own but it turns out Im one that like the rear speakers in. Thanks for the inputs.
