Default Round 2 Help Me Spend Some Cash

New amp and speakers are in now it's time to do the HU.

I want to retain On Star and my BT using the factory mic. What's the best NAV HU and what add ons do I need to purchase to retain all the OEM functions?

Money isn't an issue.

As I know I've beaten the drum to you on before Jay, for NAV you won't find better than the Kenwood DNX series. I have the Exelon DNX-8120 in my convertible and I will be putting a 6140 in my Z06. I'm not sure if the 9xxx is out yet but I do remember seeing it as a future product on Crutchfield. But you wouldn't be going wrong to grab an 8120 in my opinion either.

Money wasn't really an issue for me, either, so I went with the DNX8120. I like it - still learning my way around. It's a good system but I'm having problems with the Bluetooth and my Blackberry Curve 8330...pretty sure it's phone specific. I may end up with an iPhone here pretty soon. But it's a great radio.

EDIT: I solved my BT problem. Now the radio is perfecto!

To retain On Star you will need Peripherals GMAH24 and GMAHCM chime module. I believe the BT is a function of the factory HU so I believe you will lose the ability to use the factory MIC with BT but I may be wrong. If you buy the Kenwood DNX 8120 it has BT built in but you'll need to use the mic that comes with it. I believe all attempts to use the factory mic to integrate a new HU have been unsuccesfull to date. The On Star will still function using the factory mic.

To keep your steering wheel controls you'll need a PAC module designed to work with the Kenwood HU. I don't have steering wheel controls so I'm not sure of the PAC module model number.

Good luck!

Sorry for the late reply back. Audio quality is my first priority then NAV comes next. Any feedback based upon that?

still a kenwood dnx series IMO is the best way to go

the alpine dbl din is nice but the integration for the navi is beyond garbage
