Default Antenna Mast Nightmare

Worse nightmare just happened! I bought an antenna kit and promptly removed my old antenna per the instructions, however, the flexible cable was nowhere to be found. I guess it's broken off down the tube somewhere.

I guess I have to dig it out somehow. Has someone done this aleady? It looks like an impossible task to get the antenna motor out of the car. The motor runs fine, just looks like the gear strip broke off inside the antenna motor chasis.

I pride myself on doing all my own work but this seems like it needs a magician. Somewhere I saw a tutorial on how to remove the motor assembly but I can't find it now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.....

Billy

Just remove the two rear taillights and you can get at it.

If you remove the drivers side rear wheel, the wheel well should come out pretty easily, and you will have full access to the antennae.

Long ago, I remember seeing a post here with pictures about how someone pulled their antenna motor and drilled out the rivets, went inside the mechanism and cleaned it up. Has anyone seen this here? I sure could use this info about now.

Ever since IB upgraded the servers on the site, the search function has been a mess. I think what you are speaking of was in the Tech Tips, which has disappeared completely.

In that case, I would not use the phrase, "upgraded the servers."
