Well I installed a system and had no problems. One amp and head unit with speakers. Then I decided to put in a unique sub/amp/box combo. I couldnt find that anyone had done this so it had to be done from scratch and took about 2 weeks. Most of the time the battery was disconnected (realized I had to resync my fobs). Well I did the big 3 and installed a yellow top Optima as well.
The system sounds great and I'll post pics soon. However, I always get the "Service vehicle soon" message when I start the car. I ran the diagnostics and came up with:
10-PCM P1637H
BO-RFA U1096H
U1064H
U1016H
I had some other codes but they cleared after clearing them and then disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. The above codes will clear but then reappear as soon as the car is started.
*** Important - The only problem I had was in wiring to the battery. I had the car wires connected to the terminals on the face of the battery except the large 0/1 gauge wire coming from the alternator. I was connecting it to the fuse, or preparing to fo this, when the large connector that screws onto the wire (the actual fuse attaches to this and then to a similar connector to the other end of the wire) came into contact with the negative terminal of the battery. It started smoking and right away I knocked it off the top negative terminal. It melted away a tiny piece of the negative post. Next while tightening the other terminals (original ones) I touched the wrench to the positive while tightening the negative. I know, I couldn't believe how stupid this was. Anyway, everything still works great. The battery runs between 13.7 and 14.1 volts. I can blast the stereo for 20 minutes and still start the car. No battery issues at all.
So did I fry something in the computer when this happened? What do you guys suggest?
As always thanks for any help,
Chris.
p.s. The box build works great. I can't wait to get the pics up for you guys. I sounds great.
C5, I've had it disconnected for about 30 minutes now. I'm going to go back and connect it now. Ok that took care of everything except the
P1637H ** That just won't go away
P1637H "L-terminal circuit" It is H but it is a new code everytime the car is started so really it is an intermittent code. I would think with doing the big3 that voltage would not be an issue. I am baffled. I have read the big summary at the gear page but my code reader never picks up the code so I couldn't really find a good answer. I don't know maybe that guy Bill Curly might have an idea?
