I know this isn't an Ipod forum but I thought I'd post it since it is in my Corvette. I have had an older Ipod, not the oldest but a 60 gig video one in my car. I just got an Ipod Touch for a different purpose than the car one but thought I'd try it in the car just to see if it worked. I was planning on leaving the older one since that one charges with the car cord and the newer Ipods do not. Using the Ipod adapter box for an AVIC Z3
The new one is MUCH better. Not even close. The older one sounds muddled and low quality. Before the comparison the older one was fine.
I thought an MP3 was an MP3, just digital playback. What is different about the new units?
Anyone know of an adapter for the plug in cord that will let the newer Ipods charge?
Click here for the charging adapter, but I've heard that they can be purchased at Target for the same price.
The sound difference between ipods is probably because of your equalizer settings. I recently lost my main desktop computer and decided to reload my ipod and clean up the folders in the process. The first time I put it back in the car it sounded like crap. After some digging I figured out that my equalizer settings were way off from what it had before.
You may not be hearing the difference between the 2 IPODS themselves but rather the difference between what's stored in each and the type of files they are.
In greatly oversimplified terms there is a vast difference between uncompressed WAV files and highly compressed MP3"s.
Doesn't matter what kind of C6 stereo you have, you will be able to tell the difference between the 2 extremes.
if you have you z3 bypassed, you can put in the video cable into the aux input. I have one in my truck for my z1 so I can let my son watch his movies on it.
I run the Ipod through a dedicated box that plugs into the unit. That way I can run the Ipod through the head unit and leave the Ipod in the console.
I got one of those digital TV converter boxes for the aux A/V input. works stationary but when the car moves the antenna loses signal. Digital TV is very directional and not good at all for a moving antenna.
Also put a HD radio converter on the AVIC. Surprising to me how HD radio output is so variable, sometimes CD like quality, sometimes only fair to poor sound.
You just need to install a KVH TracVision satellite tracking antenna system on your C6.
It's that white dome thing you see on a larger motor homes and yachts.
Yep, keeping my eye on those price and size wise. They are getting much smaller and flatter to fit in the rear window. Antenna about $900 and gives full time in motion satellite TV. Then connect to a "Free to Air" reciever that gets all channels open all the time with no subscription needed.
So a little cheaper and little smaller and may happen!
