Pioneer D3

I have a D3 and was using the stock amp/speakers until last weekend. After installing my real amp/speakers/sub I had to seriously mess with the settings on the D3 to get it to sound right.
I started by making sure my amp crossovers were passing through as much signal as possible while still being turned on.
On the HU, start by turning off the high pass filter and making sure the sub output is on and set at the highest setting (125 I think).
Put the EQ on flat or something mild. Go to the staging screen and switch between them all. There should be an obvious difference for each one. I thought the second one from the left was the most 'robust' (theatre ?).
Go back to the HPF and sub controls to dial in the signals going to each speaker set, then tweek the EQ to your taste.
Between doing all of that, setting the gains and crossovers on the amp, and figuring out that a normal 1' ethernet cable CAN'T be used in place of the 20' cord that was supplied with my sub remote control ****, I spent about two hours in my driveway on Sunday afternoon with the car running. I think my neighbors were even starting to worry, or maybe they were just PO'd about all of the noise my new stereo was making on top of the usual racket that my exhaust makes

Really, ask around to see if you can find a somewhat trustworthy late-teens/early-twenties kid with an amp in their car. you might have to put up with some attitude for a few minutes, but it will probably sound good when their done.
