I'm doing an install on a 1990 vert. I ordered everything from crutchfield and it came with a wire harness. I can't find a harness in the car that looks anything like the harness they sent.
I'm pretty sure I found the stereo harness under the passenger side dash. The tuner is under there for sure even though crutchfield insists that it's in the passenger side rear compartment.
Yes, mine had the Bose system. The connector is on the tuner which in my car was up under the passenger side dash. Take the vent out of the passenger side and pull back the carpet on the door side of the passenger dash. You can look thru the slit exposed by removing the vent and see the tuner using a flashlight. The connector you need faces the passenger side door. It's way up under there, but you can get to it.
Later cars have the tuner in the storage compartment behind the passenger seat, but I'm pretty sure all the 90s have it under the dash. Crutchfield will tell you the tuner is behind the seat in a 90, but they're wrong.
so did you just splice the cables longer to reach you new aftermarket head unit?
Did you remove the tuner? I've got all the carpet out on my vette and the passenger seat is out as well because I'm replacing the carpet so I know that 'tuner' is not anywhere near the passenger seat. I was figuring I'd just have to run new wires for everything. Glad to hear that might not be a must.
Can you give me a brief explanation of how you wired stuff up? Also are you going to continue to try to use the Bose stock speakers and such?

The tuner is under the dash on any year car w/o a passenger air bag.

The C4 Sticky at the top of the section can answer all of your questions.

yes this is what I did, I ran the wires I needed to the headunit location

I left my tuner in the car, I figured it was more hassle/work to remove then to just leave in the car and unplug it

I wired power to my headunit and used an amp for all my aftermarket speakers
I personally didn't keep the Bose speakers in the the car
