C3 Sub box -2 10s- Need opinions, ideas, and pointers
I want a box to house my 10" Eclipse Aluminums, but i want it to look like its meant for the car. i figgure im going to use fiberglass. A guy i work with said he cut a hole in the bottom of the storage compatment and mounted a 10 there so that the t-tops could fit in, but i want something a little more show class.
Does anyone know the best angle for the subs to fire at in these cars? i had a 85 Trans Am that if you fired the sub directly at the glass it gave a slight bass boost, and in my blazer subs dont sound right if they arent fired twords the back... so i need a few pointers before i can rip out a plan.

Ran into an installer at radio shack while buying supplies for my install. He asked how I had my subs pointed and when I told him up he agreed that it was best that way. I really did not see ant other way to do 2 10" subs. I wanted to still fit my t-tops in and be able to use the compartments.
Here is what i ended up with, just finished this weekend.
Those are 2 6x9s mounted at an angle with amp shelves on top. I was worried about how the 6x9s would sound in a bit of a confined space but they work great. The main sub box is 12x8x24 with a divider in the middle built out of 5/8" MDF. Comes in right at .5 cubic feet per side. The sides are basically custom built to fit the car. T-tops slide in right under the sub box. Carpet was taken from extra that was sent when I bought an interior set years ago, knew I saved it for something! Working on a set of grills for the 6x9s to complete the install.

Nice looking box. You could also fabricate your own speaker grills. You can buy all the parts at radio shack, etc. Use a home system grille for a model. A single rectangluar grill covering both 6x9 might look sharp. You could also hide the mid/tweets this way giving the box a clean look. Good job though!

92TripleBlack, thanks for the compliment and advise. I have something custom in mind for the speaker grills but it will take a few days. I'll post a pic when they are done.

Great job. im not too concerned with the t-top space, and compartments because ive had subs in it since a couple weeks after i got it (3 years ago come may) and the compartment will house my amps/cap/eq/changer.
mine is basically going to be a cruiser. every day its sunny im gonna be out in it, but im not gonna park it for more than 5 min. im just going to leave the tops at home or set them aside if i enter any shows. which i want the box the be very flush, with the subs set in, and maybe plexi-glass covers for the compartments for easy view of the amps/cap etc.. im am planning to paint at least some of the box the prowler-orange to match the outside.
And for midrange/highs, im installing my eclipse 6.5s in the kicks panels, with strong grills, and the tweeters are as of yet un planed. i still need to play with imaging and soundstage.
