Hey, I just picked up a 1994 Corvette not too long ago, and I'm getting ready to install a new head unit and I was wondering what I should do about getting power etc to it. I found this at
crutchfield :
The problem is I'm not keeping the factory Bose speakers for long and have read I'm going to need to rewire all the speakers. Pretty much what I want to know is would it be better to use that adapter just to power the head unit, etc... or is there a better way?
Also will my new head unit get powered from the unreliable Bose amp if I use this adapter?
Thanks in advance

Yes I did. It wasn't really clear on whether it would be a better idea to get the adapter if swapping out the speakers though.
If you are going to replace the speakers, then you do not need an adapter. You would only need an adapter if you wanted to keep the Bose speakers, which is a bad idea, as they suck. The C4 sticky will tell you that you will need to run four wires from the pass side rear compartment, were the CDM is located, to the dash for the new HU. You will also need to run new wires for the speakers. Don't think about using the stock speaker wires, they are not up to the job. Go the Home Depot/Lowes and buy a roll of 14 gauge speaker wire, it will work great. Do you know how to solder? Are you going to use an amp?

I'm probably not going to use an amp for my speakers but definitely for the sub I'm hooking up. Also, I have very little solder experience and cannot solder do to the fact that I live on a military base and they won't allow me to use a solder gun in my BEQ ( I know its dumb)
which boasts 22W rms which should be good to the best of my knowledge anyway, so I don't think ill need an amp but give me any recommendations.
Also, with that head unit, it comes with the adapter kit so I guess I'll use it until I get my new speakers. I was kind of thinking of just replacing the front two speakers since I'm putting subs in the back anyway, does anyone else think this is a good idea or should I change the back ones out as well?
Thank you all for your input so far and sorry for all the questions!
