Background: 2000 Vert with a Pioneer avic Z-2 with bluetooth, I-pod and rear view camera I installed about 2 years ago.
I would like some advice on speaker upgrades, for front and rear, for a winter project. Don't want to go amp, just a nice speaker upgrade.
What would you recommend and give me a list of what I would need to gather up. Thanks for help. Mark
Fronts are 3.5". Boston Acoustic S35 and Polk db351 are popular upgrades. IIRC they are connected with standard push on spade connectors in a C5, so no adapters are needed.
Rears on a C5 vert are 5.25". Any aftermarket set would be an improvement, but I believe you'd need a wiring adapter if you don't want to just splice the stock wires.
Try doing just the fronts first and see how it sounds.
imo by saying no amp you are going about this the wrong way. you will get best results ditching the entire bose front assembly and putting a nice 6.5 component in with deadner and a small amp

So, if I am reading this correct, my fronts now are S35's and I can replace with Polk db351's ? Basically plug and play?

I am hearing this from outers as well, about the small amp. A amp wouldn't bother me if it could be located under or behind the passenger seat. Is this possible?
Exactly what 6.5 component, amp, door deadner would you suggest?
i am decatur and more then willing to help since u live close by
what is ur budget, there are tons of diff ways to go. i have a nice setup in my mustang you could take a listen to just to hear something and see
esentially in the c5 the top 3.5 door tweeter and be replaced but you cant change the bose woofer, will it sound better yet, but components will 100x better
in a frc/z06 u can put amps under the seat, otherwise behind the seat it is, its deff doable though i have done tons of c5's and managed to do stealthy installs that are barely visiable

My budget is flexible. I want a better sound and I guess that means new amp, speakers, wire, door damp, etc. I have some time over winter months to do the install, as I did my Z2 HU two years ago.
Do you supply or sell the components? I am thinking of a amp. 2 6.5" front speakers, tweeters and new rears. Your thoughts?
I can supply you with components and/or recommend tons of great places to purchase and recommend some products. Being a vert an amp can be placed in the area where the top comes down which as you know is basically wasted space more aless, i have done this in a number of verts. can also put an amp in the center counsle. Personally being a vert what I would do is the component speakers up front and a sub and amp in the rear cubby, it will sound amazing, that is if you are willing to give up the rear center cubby. Personally I wouldnt bother with rear speakers but you could do them if you wanted to, i recommend unhooking them all together. I take it you are just looking for better sound out of the system. You said your budget is flexiable it can be done as cheap as 3-400 and expensive as a few grand. You can get a very nice setup that will blow away stock for roughly. 5-600. Feel free to PM me if you wanna take a listen to my car and or woudl like my help. I have done a number of cars for forum members and if you would like to see soem of the installs let me know
