I'm thinking christmas is the perfect opportunity to give myself an audio upgrade. So lets hear your suggestions on a system for my car. Here is what I already have
Kicker ZX700.5 amp
Kicker 10" L5 sub
And I plan on using a Kenwood 814 headunit(don't want to waste the money on NAV I'll never use).
So what speakers should I run and yes I'm running rears so don't even bother saying it.
db651 for rears being blown out on amazon right now for 35 bucks free shipping, its one of my fav coaxial speakers normally retails for 100, scoop em up now before they are gone worth every penny and then some
how much of a mounting difference is there between the db651 and the db651s. I was looking at getting a pair for the kick panels of my 77 vette. Your right the db651 is $35 and the db651s is $53 with free shipping at amazon.
on the 651s the tweeter doesnt stick out of the front quite as far, they are both 2" mounting depth. IMO the 651 will be fine, i know a number of guys run em in kicks
I'm not trying to spend more than seven or eight hundred on the fronts. I liten to every kind of music but a lot of acoustic stuff. I'd love a nice warm but clear sound.
I got a suggestion to run the rears from the deck(which I was planning on) but instead of bridging the front and rears, running two channels to the mids and two channels to the tweeters. Anyone wanna chime in on this suggestion?
Warm and clear, you just described the hybrid-audio components. They are not a hugely marketed brand like JL or the like, but I can say without a doubt that they are the finest speakers I have listened to. Not to mention they have won the last few years of SQ comps on the local, regional, and national level. If you want to check them out, the website is www.hybrid-audio.com and the set is the L61-2v2. That is what I run in my c6. I am running them active with 180 watts on each mid and 100 watts on each tweeter off a zapco dc650.6. They don't come with crossovers, so if you can run active I would recommend it. They do have crossovers for purchase if you need them though. I purchased mine from Tom at www.12velectronics.com and he was great to deal with. Here is a link to the speakers on his site: http://www.12velectronics.com/servle...ologies/Detail and here is a link to the speakers on the hybrid site: http://www.hybrid-audio.com/legatia_two_way.htm
