Default C6 Speaker and Amp suggestions needed

I plan on installing a complete system and need some suggestions.

So far I have the DNX 9140 picked as the headunit.

I have a MadVette stealthbox coming for the JL 10W3v3.

First, what are the pro's and con's of having or not having rear speakers?

Secondly, what components would you suggest? I want it to be loud and clear. As far as budget, I was thinking in the $500 range. I'll spend more if need be. The amp I am looking at puts out 150 watts rms.

As far as the amp goes I was planning on running one of the JL HD's. Either the 600/4 or the 900/5 depending on if I run rear speakers.

Would the 300 watts rms be enough for the sub or would it benefit from the 500 the 900/5 puts out?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I think you'll enjoy the sound and features out of the 9140. I kinda went all out and had the cabin sound proofed, used two 12" subs and had them mounted in the small storage space in my C5, replaced the Bose speakers, and added kick panels up front. Initially I didn't have the stock rear speakers utilized but discovered later the sound (which was awesome) a little too much "front stage". I had the rears connected and it gave me the sound I was finally after. No need to utilize your amp for rears; just hook them up to the 9140 deck directly. You'll be fine.

I am running the 900/5HD with JL C6 6.25's with xovers and tweets. My sub is a JL Stealthbox. The sound is insane!

My only chaalenges are with regards to the door chime unit. It is a GMOS 04 and I no longer hear the confirmation tone when setting a seat memory. I also occasionally get a continuous door chime when exiting after listening to stuff while in accessory mode.

Are you just running the one set of components? Can the JL 10w1 really handle the 500watts?

Thanks!

actually running the 5 channels. Kept the rear OEMs as filler and the Stealth can easily handle the 500 watts. I can actually feel it now and it doesn't appear to be suffering. Bearing in mind that the 500 watts also gives way cleaner power.

I used the Alpine PDX-5 amp. 75 X 4 and another 300 for the sub. I used two Subthump rear boxes with RF 10" subs, Alpine components in the front, and some Eclipse tri-axials in the rear.

It sounds great....soooo much better than the horrid Bose......but what's really amazing is that is sounds great with the stock NAV head unit. I can only imagine how much better it would sound with the Kenwood 9140.
