Default DNX9140 versus IPOD Video

IPOD connected to the Kenwood unit. Plays audio just like I need it to. Responds to voice commands just like I need it to. However, it doesn't play any video at all.

I have video podcasts, movies and TV on the actual IPOD but none of them play. In fact, I don't even recall getting options for these functions on the "List" page.

When I checked with Kenwood, the tech who wasn't overly convincing said that the video cable from IPOD must not be connected to the HU.

Before I crack it open, does this sound right. I have a feeling that it is more of a setup issue.

Thanks

If your ipod is connected via the big docking pin at the bottom, then it's connected properly.

On all of the video enabled ipods I've seen you need to go into the ipod settings and set the external video output to ON in order for it to play video through the cable on an external device. Changing that setting will then disable you from watching videos on the ipod itself until you change it back. It's kinda a PITA, especially when you can't remember where to find that setting and spend half of your flight home from Vegas trying to find it

Also, on my Pioneer you can't control the ipod from the HU while playing video. It works, you just have to push the ipod buttons after selecting the video menu on the HU. Once you go back to music the HU regains control.
