I'm installing a pioneer nav unit in my 07. Removing the OEM radio with xm. I have the pioneer nav unit, xm receiver, hd receiver, steering wheel control unit, and gm wiring kit (axxess). I have everything connected and do not have sound except for the ipod.
Can anyone help?
Guess #1: Is the stock amp still installed? If yes, you need to connect the 'external amp control' wire (usually blue) from the pioneer to the interface wire that matches up with the white wire at B3 of the OEM harness.
Guess #2: You used the 'antenna control' wire (blue/white?) instead of the 'amp control', which would only energize the amps when you're on AM/FM (and it seems in your case iPod also).
Guess #3: The interface is bonkers.
If none of those are it, we'll probably need more info to help.
Option #1 I have only removed the radio head unit.
The install kit (GMOS-04) has a wire -blue/white runs between the 24 way and the 16 way connectors. It is labled AMP TURN ON. instructions tell meto cut this wire and connect it to the relay which also has a power and ground connected. the blue/white goes in the 85 and our the 30, ground is 86 and the power is 87. With the power on the white wire in B3 has power as does the blue/white.
Option #2 The antenna control wire is not connected to anything. Should it be?
Option #3 I thought the interface was bad so I went to Bestbuy and dropped another 100 for another new one.
If the ipod is plugged into the Pioneer, which is plugged into the interface, which is plugged into the stock 24 pin harness, and all you can hear being amplified through the stock speakers is the ipod....
Have you tried playing a CD? Maybe you're just not getting recpetion on any of the radio channels.
If the ipod continues to be the only thing working, It could be the Pioneer. Can you verify +12V on the blue wire coming out of the radio when anything besides the ipod is playing? Do you have a speaker sitting around that you can connect to the speaker level outputs to test them?
I just tried the CD and it works fine. I think you nailed it, it is probably the signal. Too late tonight I'll try that tomorrow
Thanks for your help. let you know tomorrow
Do you have the radio receivers connected to both the back of the HU and to power/ground? I know the XM unit needs constant power, I'd imagine the HD does also.
For local AM/FM did you connect the stock antenna to the HU?
The HD unit has the antena connected to it, the hd has power and ground, the xm has the hd connected, power and ground, and it is connected to the HU. I connected the antenna to the HU to test FM and still no sound.
