any advice is great,thanks again.
Bose/non-Bose the issues & component configs are the same, just a function of whether the amps & speakers are Bose or Delco. The stock speakers are 4 ohm IIRC and while in theory it matters, you'd likely find nothing other than maybe a few sets in 2 ohm that would still work ok so it's not a big issue.
TONS of folks have done speaker swaps. Whether it sounds better and what brand sounds best is ENTIRELY a matter of personal preference so go with a brand whose general sound you know you like.
so i should stick with a 4 ohm? i really likethe sound of the stock speakers, good bass response, but my passenger door is blown, so i would like something similar in sound, any suggestions?
thanks
There are 2 speakers in each door, a big powered bass speaker (sub) and a normal 3.5" speaker. If it's the small one that's bad, some good inexpensive replacement options are Polk db351 or Boston Acoustic S35. If the sub is what went bad, the only option is to get another one of the same unless you want to add an aftermarket sub in the trunk. If it is the sub speaker that blew, you can probably find a take-off on the forum for less money than anywhere else.
Just FYI, the rears are normal 5.25" speakers. I have these in my car with an aftermarket amp, but they would work with the stock setup also.
I'm in the same boat as you. The non bose sub is 8" and it's a 2 ohm speaker. The other speakers in your car are 4ohms. Kicker makes a 8" shallow 2ohm sub.
i also seen that pioneer, kenwood, earthquake, and kicker all make a shallow 8" sub, but will the stock amp be enough power for it? also has anyone ever installed these?
