final install pics for my '79 (modem users beware)
I have finished the install except for future addition of some kick panel speakers. I ended up mounting the MP3 player in the dash. Just cut it with a dremmel without removing. I've had the car for 10 years and don't plan on selling so I just said to hell with it. I appreciate the advise on getting another console piece and cutting that but the way I see it you can get one for $100 anytime and return to stock if desired. I have the original block for the car sitting in my garage for 5 years now and I don't really want to collect any more parts that I am unlikely to use. Anyway here are the pics. My rear shade still pulls forward and covers everything and I can still slide the t-tops in under the sub box. 6x9s are mounted at an angle behind the stainless grills.
The sound is pretty good considering I have less than $250 in this system. If something breaks I might consider upgrading. Also, the MP3 unit has no engine whine like the tape deck that I had at first. I guess that advancements in electronics over the years has helped out.

Nice job! I've seen everything from 3-1/2's to 4" by 6" plates mounted in C3 kick panels recess's, do you know what your going to use?
