First, credit where credit is due. Thanks to Greg (Pentavolvo) for putting together, and designing, a must be stealth system requirement I gave him.
I had upgraded my HU to a Z-2 a couple of years ago and wanted to upgrade the sound without braking the bank. Greg designed the following: Elemental Designs Nine.4 amp, e3.65i front speakers with crossovers and a e3.8 Sub all designed to fit inside rear center cubby of my Vert.
I did the install myself with many e-mails and advise from Greg. He not only put the system together for me, but hand delivered it to my front door. How is that for service!
Here are a few pics. I'm almost done, just a few loose ends to tie up. The sound is exactly what I was wanting. I have much crisper sound, real base and you don't even know it is there. All I lose was the center cubby. Thanks a ton Greg. Mark
Looks great, hows it sound. Ill be back in town in a few weeks I deff wanna take a listen to it
Hi Greg. I think it sounds great, but I know you will want to tweak my settings for me which is great for me. My old ears aren't as tuned as yours. Mark

really glad u are happy with it and all, not hard to upgrade from bose on a budget and make a world of difference. how is the bass with the cubby cover on vs off?
u did an amazing job laying out wires and taping them down
if he doesnt have the numbers im sure i have them written down somewhere. i like how u went above and beyond with brassing. the 8" should provide some nice low end but by no means is it gonna shake the car

Thanks Greg. I haven't played around enough with it yet, but I felt that I had enough bass both ways. No noticeable difference with cover on or off.
That looks really nice. What are the dimensions of the box you built and do you know how much cubic ft of air it holds?
As you may have guessed, the sub box was designed by Greg for a 8" sub. All from 3/4" MDF. Out side was 21 1/2" long by 9 1/2" wide by 6" tall. Making the inside 20" X 8" X 4 1/2".
For my sub in a sealed box I needed .35 cu. ft. (ideal). I added some 1 by and some 2 by support inside the box to support it and reduce the space until I reduced the inside to .35 cu. ft. Here is another pic.
Stoped by Marks today to take a listen and make some adjustments and tweak it for him. The system sounds great. The 8" in the cubby makes some nice bass, sounds 1000x better then stock, more bass then stock, and totally stealth. Obviously it wont make as much bass as a 10", but still puts down some lows

I must be the luckiest guy on the Form. Greg takes time out, after work from his day job, to check out my install and tweak the settings on my Heat Unit and new amp.
Some of you guys might remember what a doctors "house call" was like in the old days. Lucky me to have him so close.
I took a listen again this morning and WOW It's spot on even to my old ears. Top down, all I have to do is crank her up, no distortion great highs and good base. And best of all, it's stealth! Thanks Greg, Mark

Greg is so helpful to so many, wish we could all return the favors! If you ever make it out to Nor Cal dinner and drinks are on me
Here are a couple of pics of my Vert center cubby cover modifed to include a light weight steel speaker grill to help pass the sound through. I purchased this from MADVETTE a couple of years ago. It is definitely strong enough to support anything I have been able to fit in my trunk from golf clubs to 24 packs of water or beer
I did notice a difference when I replaced the original cover with this one. Sorry for the dirty carpet on the cover, needs a good cleaning!
very nice im sure that will help mark with ideas. we talked about doing that. I have never actually made one for a c5 but have done similar. the metal grill under the carpet looks like it would work out great. i think i will end up doing damn near the same speaker/sub/amp setup in my dads 01 vert for him come spring time but we will retain the stock headunit.

Yes... I'm liking this... A lot. I wouldn't mind having more bass in the rear deck area, and I have a JL amp about the same size as the one shown here. Plus I have pre outs coming from both the HU and the PAC adapter to feed the signal to the amp. Hmmm. Hmmm....

It is a similar material to what they make "peg boards" from. It is 3/16" thick and you can use your existing fasteners to hold it down once you drill the proper holes for them. I'm assuming this is the same thickness as the OEM cover or the OEM fasteners wouldn't work.
