Default C5 Audio Install - Some Questions

I'm getting ready to do an overhaul of the audio system in my C5. I have a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU ready to install. I want to replace both the front & rear speaker setups. I want something that will sound good across a broad range of music, but mainly alternative & rock and occasionally some dance/house/electronic stuff. Bass isn't a major concern as I have an Eclipse titanium 10" sub & a smaller CDT Audio ES-06 6" Woofer. I plan to pick up a good sub amp to power either one or a combo of those 2 in the future, but for now I'm just looking to get something reasonable to clean up the sound up front.

I found a couple sets of Boston Acoustics on Crutchfield, and they have an offer for a free amp with purchase. Here are the speakers...

Boston S60 Components - front
Boston S65 2-Ways - rear
Free Amp - JVC KS-AX4302 2-channel amp

Total cost would be $260, not bad for all that. I'm fairly confident the speakers will sound fine, good enough for now until I have some more money to throw at a really nice set of components.

My question is will this setup achieve what I'm looking for? Is this amp any decent to power the fronts and have my Kenwood power the rears? Or should I perhaps just get the front components, forget the rear speakers & amp and just power them through the headunit?

Also, any other suggestions as far as speakers/amps go in this price range (up to $300) would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

Sal

I just bought the same HU, in fact UPS says it is being delivered today. I have a 02 Z06. I bought the Infinity Kappa 62.9i for the front and Infinity Reference 5032cf for the rear. I think they are going to sound fantastic with the Kenwood. Good Luck on your install.

Nice, I've heard the Kappas & they were a tad too bright for my ears, but a very nice quality speaker nonetheless! I actually went with some Polk components & 2-ways for the rear after looking over amplified power ratings and such - I think they're going to sound great.

Good luck with yours as well, I'll try to post up pics when I'm done

Don't know if you would be interested or not but I have a Kicker ZX700.5 amp for sale that would power your whole system.

So far I like it. Great display, sounds nice from the brief listen I had late last night. I got all of the cables run for the amp, tonight I'll install the components in the doors and (hopefully) wrap everything up!

I love how easy our cars are to remove the interior! This was mid-install, sorry for the crappy pic...anxiously awaiting the new iPhone lol
