Looking to replace the headunit in my C5 without changing the bezel or losing the ashtray/cigarette lighter.
Ideally I would like a 1.5 DIN unit that is iPod and satellite ready that is not a flipup.
I realize I may have to go with a 1 DIN unit but all the after-market installs I have seen seem to stick out quite a bit. I could deal with a 1 DIN unit that's a little more flush but I would at least like to attempt to have a little screen that a 1.5 DIN unit might provide.
There's a metal plate that supports the stock radio inside the dash, certain mounting plates combined with certain radios won't allow the radio to be pushed in all the way. If you remove that plate you can install any single din HU into a C5 and have it flush with the dash.
The info that can be displayed on a single din radio will surprise you. I had a Kenwood XXV-01D in the C5 and it had 3 selectable lines of text that it would display on your choice of screen setups. The newer ones have even more display options, and I know I've even seen some with small video displays.
