Hey guys,
I've been digging around many audio threads lately trying to solve my sub install problem. So here goes; I already have an Alpine 12" type R sub, so my system will be built around that. My goal is to simply add more base to the existing Bose stereo in my 03 Z. I plan on picking up the pac/vet1 interface and maybe an alpine MRP-M500 amp to power the sub. My issue is I really would like a stealth type box for the sub, however the specs on the sub appear not to work with any of the boxes I have seen. The specs are: magnet diameter =6 & 3/8" and depth=7 & 11/16". It seems like the depth of the sub is the problem. Has anyone run into this problem and found any solutions? Or are all the stealth type boxes for the center compartment designed for more shallow subs?
Thanks for reading

you need a hangover-style box for a sub that deep. hangover boxes are good for about 8" of depth.
Hangover box, the shape is too narrow in the well to give anything above about 5.5" unless it is angled.
Git: An IDQ12 will fit in a stealth enclosure, but it is very close. My box was custom made, but is standard shape so I can't see why anyone else's stealth box would not fit an IDQ12 as well.

dammit fej i pmed ya to get your number again so i could give you a call and missed ya again quit doing drive by posts and pm me your number bro
I know the last post was like a month ago but I'll chime in...The stealth box in a C5 is only good for around .85 cubic ft of space. The hangover is good for a little more but still under 1 cubic ft. When buying any sub you better check the VAS required for that sub or you will be unhappy and wondering why the sub is not hitting that low or just doesn't sound right. Many guys don't realize how important it is to match the size of volume of air for a sub to the box. It makes all the difference in the world. Stealth boxes don't offer much air and because of that you have to scout around and shop for the right sub! Even if your sub fits in the box doesn't mean it is SUPPOSE to be in the box. Your type R looks to be fine by the way (box volume: 0.57-1.0 cu. ft.), I am just saying to others so that they don't feel they can just go out an buy any old sub and throw it in the box

We're not dealing with cheap underdeveloped sub drivers here...
I don't know if you can stuff 5-10 lbs of polyfill in an enclosure with only .8 cu in. of space (minus of course the space taken up by the magnet, basket and other speaker components).
I had trouble stuffing 3 lbs of polyfill in that space for the 10" IDQV3. 12" is overkill for a C5 stealth enclosure for an Image Dynamics product.
However, if someone can manage a nice way to channel the interior airspace into the two rear side compartments, a 12" would rock!
