I'll never claim to be an audiophile, I'm just good at hooking things up and making them work
Which equipment you want to look at depends entirely on your budget. From looking at you sig, my guess is that your 'reasonable' for a good amp and sub will be more than my entire system costs. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just easier to start with the $$ before going into long lists of equipment.
I haven't heard the new Camaro radio yet, but two properly powered 12" subs would seriously overpower any stock system I've ever heard. IMHO, that much bass would require an amp for the rest of the system also. From what I've seen, a single 10" sub with approx 200w RMS amp is plenty for an otherwise stock setup.

I am a fan of JL, but I have heard that Alpine PDX amps are good too. If you get a 5 channel amp you can power the whole system the cost of one amp. I would change out the whole speaker system if you like the factory headunit. Once you put a Sub and an amp the subs will be too much for the factory mids and highs to keep up.
As far as the two amps you mentioned above, they are just OK. A lot of people on here run Elemental Design, ARC, JL audio, Diamond or Alpine.
I really like JL so I have them in my C5 but I have been on the lookout for an Elemental design amp for my mids and highs.
Just my .02 good luck with whatever you deside.
Jon,
I agree sbout JL Audio subs and Alpine PDX amps. PDX are very small, clean and VERY STRONG. Great combo. have used this in a c5 vert with very good results.

...........Alpine has a very good track record, and I have good luck using them. I have also used JBL, as thats all they do.
