1985 Bose Speaker "pop"
Hi, I have a 1985 bose car with an aftermarket Kenwood HU and 2 aftermarket Kenwood front speakers. My problem is in the rear speakers, which I believe are stock. When Im listening to music I can hear a poping or clicking sound coming from the rear speakers. Very annoying! Is this the speakers going bad or what? I planned on replacing the rear speakers with some new 6x9's anyways but I just want to find out if that is the problem or not.

I suspect if you have the original speakers, then you still have the original amps back there, and they are popping. It was a pretty common problem. It seems like an odd thing to do, as I believe you have to have a converter to drive the Bose amps/speakers.

Yes you can wire directly to the HU. Not knowing how they have the HU wired to the rears, you can run new wire, but you need to pull the HU and find out how they currently have the rears wired. It sounds like they are using the factory wiring, in which case you can pull the convertor and use factory, cutting off the plug at each speaker, or as I said just run new speaker wire(Recommended)
