Default C5 Crossover Rec?

Looking for a recommendation for a crossover to manage only the 3.5" door speaker and a Polk minitweeter mounted in the door of my 99. The OE Bose woofer stays as is.
Not looking for a world beater - just a good value.
Thanks.

Simple would be to add some "bass blockers", which are basically resisters/caps to pull some frequencies out from your 3.5's. But to be honest the 3.5's have managed frequencies from the factory amp already. If you are going aftermarket 3.5's and not replacing the factory amp you shouldn't have to change anything, or they may come with their own little unit. Pentavolvo would know better than I about that.

The tweets should come with their own resisters or crossover to plug in, but you need to power them, and the bose amp functions at goofy ohm loads and does not have an option to plug in another pair of speakers. And if you are going that far to add an amp to power tweeters, you might as well gut the factory stuff, add a pair of component speakers with an amp, and make a worthwhile improvement.

Some people have found that a simple 3.5" twiddler replacement to a Polk or similar unit yields acceptable improvement for minimal effort.

I'm trying to use the existing Bose woofers and use the existing feed for the 3.5s to feed a crossover that would then split and feed new Polk 3.5 midrange (without tweeter) and my existing Polk EX 351as.

Basically it would be a component system powered by the existing Bose system.

Any reason why this won't work?

Thanks.

The stock system doesn't have squat for power

Instead of buying a new midrange speaker and crossover, then going through the hastle of mounting an under powered tweeter somewhere that it isn't designed to be, have you considered just buying a set of db351's to install in place of the stock twiddler?

The previous owner has already installed the Polk tweeters. I'm trying to figure out how to use them.

Previous owner probably had an aftermarket system, removed most of it and threw the stock system back into place when he sold it. It might be able to be done, but I doubt you will like the results, although you never know.

From what I can gather, the previous owner was using the Bose woofer and 3.5" door speakers powered from the OE head unit. He added an amp, a sub and tweeters but took the amp and sub out before he sold it. Tweeters and wires remain.
