Hi everyone I just recently picked up a 99 c5 corvette with 60k miles on it and I am wanting to change the radio around to a more updates user friendly set up. Now I know all of you know that the corvette c5 runs a 1.5 din so to change it to a 2 din setup you have to modify the bezel. Now I can buy a 2 din bezel already made online for about 300-500 but I find this ridiculously overpriced and to be honest I do not want to take the chance of messing up on doing it myself.
So what I am wanting to know is if anyone can either do this for me or has a modified bezel that they can sell me that will be cheaper than $300 dollars. I called a couple of the local stereo places and they wanted to charge around 400-500 for wiring installation and bezel configuration which is not horrible but if anyone has a already made bezel or would like to do it on my bezel then that would be better. Thx please let me know.
First off 3-500 dollars isnt bad if you knew what went into doing it and making it look good and match the interior. If i recall Dennis c5bearsfan was running a special this past weekend for 340 with no core charge. Not sure when that special ended but might be worth looking into
Doing the work is labor intensive. I've done two of these bezels before and it takes me a better part of the week to do it after work almost every night. I can see why these vendors charge so much for it.
If nothing else, tackle the job yourself. Materials itself will run you anywhere from 50-150 depending on what you're trying to accomplish. We all gotta start somewhere.
