Default AVIC-Z110BT mute problems.

Question/problem:

After having a AVIC-Z110BT installed this winter I have been having problems with the head unit staying in mute for 15 min or so after I start the car. It is random and it just started. I do not push the mute button to cause this and when it is muted pushing the button does not do anything

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Same problem for me!!! I'm thinking it is heat related! (I'm in SC) and it only happens when I leave the car out in the sun for hours. Have you figured out a solution yet?

Not yet, but it 100% a heat problem, it never shuts down after the car is running. Only when getting in it after it has been in the sun for a few hours. My installer is going look at it again, I well kep you posted.

What interface are you using to pick up the mute wire? I'm using the GMOS-100i and am wondering if it is the component that is not working right. I might try cutting the mute wire and seeing what happens. One thing is for sure, if we are both having this problem, it's not a wiring issue.

That's a config option in the headunit. Under "Audio Settings", you can set mute to be "10db, 20db or all". 10/20db in an attenuation level and all means full mute (which will also pause a pausable music source). If it toggle this setting when it I'm having the problem, I can get different attenuation levels and full mute. I just can't disable it. Which is why I think the interface may be sending a faulty mute signal when it is hot.
