Lately ive noticed that my front speakers in my '99 coupe will cut out/make squealing noises especially when turning up the volume, and to be honest ive never been impressed with the bose setup in the car.
Anyway, Ive had a browse through the FAQ section and was wondering, what would you all recommend (new or finding used stuff) to upgrade the speakers/add a sub and amp on a budget? Id consider a new head unit as well.
Im not really an audiophile but its pretty sad when my mopar stereo (not even an infinity) in my Grand Cherokee makes the 'vette sound like a tin can...
There are lots of options out there. I just upgraded my speakers early this year on about 500/600 budget.
Elemental Designs makes nice amps and speaker components for a budget price and sound very good. I just returned from a short road trip in my vert, and the wife even said that top up or down the sound quality was a noticeable improvement.
I am in the same boat as kawboy5792: I have a 1999 coupe and I want to upgrade the speakers ONLY. What ohm rating are the current Bose speakers? Any good suggestions for replacements? I want to replace the door and mid-panel speakers, and keep the upgrade under $600. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.
I also have a 99 coupe and frankly I'm busted since I just put in a double din Pioneer.
I'm pretty happy with what I hear now with the stock Bose but I think I'm going to try a modest upgrade with the speakers by swapping out the 3.5" front speakers and the 6.5" back speakers with some Polk DB series for about $130.
